The Women’s Rights Group of Quebec, often seen as a counterpart of the Quebec Women’s Federation, but sometimes defending different positions, will receive for the first time in its history an assistance from the Quebec government.
Theorganization dedicated to the defense of women ‘s rights, better known by its acronym PDF Québec, will receive a sum of nearly $ 120,000 starting in fiscal year 2019-2020. This is a first for this feminist group, which previously did not receive a grant from the Quebec government.
During the debate on the secularity of the state, PDF Quebec advocated a clear separation between religions and the state. In an interview Monday, its president, Diane Guilbaut, explained that for PDF Quebec, the state does not have to consider rules that are of one religion or another for the administration of its citizens.
PDF Québec is part of a list of 12 national, regional and local advocacy organizations awarded a total of $ 1.16 million in support of their mission for the first time. The announcement was made Monday by the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Solidarity, Jean Boulet.
