Quebec will partially reimburse glasses for under 18s
The program was already known, but it was announced once again Thursday by Prime Minister François Legault: Quebec will reimburse part of the costs incurred to provide glasses under 18 years.
Theprogram, released in the last budget in March, has in fact already been in effect since September 1st.
It provides for a refund of $ 250 when buying glasses or contact lenses for people under 18 years of age.
Taxpayers could, in theory, have to pay $ 36 million annually.
The government is of the opinion that the measure will help reduce the dropout rate.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister, surrounded by three of his ministers, on the sidelines of the government’s back-to-back caucus.
