The Oceanic will take off Sidney Crosby’s jersey

The greatest player in the history of the Rimouski Océanic, Sidney Crosby will be entitled to the ultimate honor on September 27, when his famous number 87 will pass on the side of the immortals at the time of the withdrawal of his jersey in the frame opening game that will kick off the 25th anniversary celebrations of the QMJHL team.
Intwo seasons with the Océanic, Crosby left his mark before winning in the National League under the colors of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A native of Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia, Crosby has 120 goals and 303 points in 121 games in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. He was instrumental in winning the 2005 Océanic President’s Cup, which also participated in the Memorial Cup.

The number 87 Crosby will be the sixth jersey removed in the history of the Oceanic, the others being those of Allan Sirois (11), Vincent Lecavalier (4), Brad Richards (39), Jonathan Beaulieu (9) and Michel Ouellet (28)

In addition to the opening game against the Sherbrooke Phoenix that coincides with the withdrawal of the Crosby jersey, six other parties will highlight the history of the Océanic, that of September 29, October 20, November 8, December 14, 11 January and February 14, where each five-year period will be honored. Historical capsules, interviews, video will soon spice up the future special section of the Océanic website.
