Two children and a man found dead in a residence in Montreal

MONTREAL – Two children and a man were found dead in a single-family home in Montreal on Tuesday night.

Police officers of the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM) made the macabre discovery shortly after 21:00 in the house located on Curatteau Street at the intersection of Avenue Pierre-De Coubertin, Tétreaultville neighborhood.

On Wednesday morning, the SPVM confirmed that the 40-year-old man was the father of two children, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. The police believe that the children were murdered by their father who then committed suicide.

The police were notified of the tragedy by a call to the 911 telephone exchange by a woman who said she had found three possibly dead and entering the house located in a residential area, just off Highway 25.

Major crime investigators from the SPVM began their investigation on the spot as early as Tuesday night. Around 8:30 am on Wednesday, they had left the area and the security perimeter was raised.
